GNIOS - Global Neuro-Infections Outcome Study

Dear friends and colleagues -

I hope you are well since I last saw many of you at the World Congress in Cape Town! I am writing to you on behalf of an international group that is embarking on a prospective observational study to map the global burden of CNS infections on neurosurgical services, called GNIOS. This will be incredibly useful data to have – across the map of the world! So, having you on board will be so very important.

6^th Southeast European Neurosurgical Society (SeENS) COngress and 25^th Hungarian Neurosurgical Society Congress, Budapest, 9-11 October

The 6^th Congress of the Southeast Europe Neurosurgical Society and the 25th Congress of the Hungarian Neurosurgical Society were held jointly on Margaret Island in Budapest, Hungary from October 9 to 11, 2024. The Congress’s patron was Prof. Dr. Tamás Freund, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). The three-day conference hosted over 300 participants from 29 countries, who presented their latest research findings and innovations in neurosurgery and related fields. More than 200 high-quality scientific presentations were delivered in three parallel sessions, providing a comprehensive overview from current clinical practices to technological advancements and new research directions.

A Remarkable Congress
Held at the magnificent National Palace of Culture, in Sofia, Bulgaria, our congress brought together 1,859 participants from 89 countries, creating an unprecedented platform for scientific exchange and professional growth. With 373 lectures, 235 oral presentations, 454 oral e-posters, and 277 e-posters, we showcased the breadth and depth of European neurosurgery.

Continental Association of African Neurosurgical Societies (CAANS), Kinshasa, DRC, and Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, 26-30 November

The Continental Association of African Neurosurgical Societies (CAANS) has selected Kinshasa and Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Republic of Congo (RC) respectively, as host for the 5th CAANS Congress 24^th and 25^th November (Pre-Congress Workshop on Vascular and Spine) and 26th to 28th November at Fleuve Congo Hotel and Tours Jumelles de Brazzaville. This biannual international congress, previously held in Algiers (Algeria), Cape Town (South Africa), Abuja (Nigeria) and most recently Nairobi (Kenya), is a significant continental health sector event that attracts Neurosurgeons from the entire globe. In line with prior meetings, we expect 350 delegates from all the continents and strong participation of other sister international organizations.
