It is governed by a US Board of Directors. At present Prof. Christopher M. Loftus of Philadelphia is the Chairman of this Board. The previous and founding Board Chairman was Prof. Edward Laws.
The WFNSF - USA is an IRS recognized 501c3 entity. This official status was renewed by Dr. Loftus on September 18, 2014. A copy of the 2014 IRS determination is on file at the WFNS Central Office.
The WFNS-USA exists so that donors seeking tax advantages from charitable giving can donate to a US recognized 501c3. Donated fund are maintained in a Wells Fargo Bank account, and are disbursed for the purposes of the WFNS Foundation whenever a written request is received. By IRS regulations, funds cannot be disbursed without a written request from the Foundation, and a stated purpose for the use of the funds.
The WFNS-F USA files an annual tax return with the US Internal Revenue Service, which is prepared by our accountants, (Weiss, Sugar, Dvorak, and Dusek Ltd.) in Chicago, working with Dr. Loftus. In addition, Dr. Loftus provides the complete set of monthly account statements every year to Mrs. Chen in the WFNS Central Office, so that the accounts can be audited by the Swiss accountants and included in the master financial documents of the WFNS and the WFNS Foundation, as recorded by the WFNS Treasurer, Prof. Amir Samii. In this way complete transparency of the WFNS-F USA funds is maintained.
