Dear Colleagues –
The first item in the November WFNS Newsletter is the WFNS Committees report.
Next is a description of the Space Shield multicenter randomized-controlled trial of a spaceexpanding shield in decompressive hemicraniectomy for stroke organized by the Department of Neurosurgery at the Bern University Hospital (Switzerland). Please consider participating in this trial.
Next is the November 14 weekly update on global healthcare from the Center for Humanitarian Health at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, MD, USA. It contains many links to current articles plus information on opportunities for healthcare personnel from developing countries. Two such opportunities are included: (1) Research Ethics During War (seeking case studies of research conducted during armed conflict), and (2) JHU Salama MPH Tuition Scholarship for Refugees: funding tuition for the year-long MPH program at JHU for a refugee from any of 11 countries (from Afghanistan to Ukraine). Application deadline for the JHU MPH tuition program is December 1.
Next is the collaborative partnership in Paraguay with FIENS, University of Wisconsin (USA) Department of Neurological Surgery, and Neurosurgery and Neurology Institute of Solidarity Bridge. Together with Paraguayan colleagues, they been advancing neurosurgery in Paraguay for four years.
