FIENS Award Overview 2024



In 2024, FIENS supported the disbursement of 11 awards to young neurosurgeons in the following countries: Benin, Cameroon, Uganda, DemocraEc Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Kenya, Pakistan, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan.

7 of the 12 awards were FIENS BasseN Fellowships which support the traveling of young neurosurgeons from their home country to a hosted country and hospital where they parEcipate in an observership for a period of up to 3 months.

A new FIENS named fellowship - Mukhtar A. Sheik Family Fellowship - was awarded to one neurosurgeon this year. The fellowship supports the traveling of young Pakistani neurosurgeon to travel to a host country and hospital to parEcipate in an observership for up to 3 months.

4 awards were Clack Family Scholarships which support young neurosurgeons complete their neurosurgical training in their home country.

To date, FIENS has awarded 56 young neurosurgeons with traveling fellowships and scholarships with the intenEon of building future sites of service and increasing neurosurgical capacity globally.
