Dear EC members (WFNS officers and delegates),
The 2022 WFNS elections were completed successfully. The voting process was conducted completely electronically, like the last election in September 2021. It was conducted via the services of an Indian company, eVote (https://www.evote.co.in/). We would first like to thank you for your valuable participation. The voting procedure was very smooth for the vast majority of voters, requiring less than 3 minutes to complete online. The technical difficulties that some voters experienced were generally resolved and were not due to deficiencies in the voting platform itself, but related to inaccurate registration details, poor wifi connectivity, cell coverage problems and other issues. The members of this Election Committee, the staff of the WFNS Central Office as well as the eVote staff worked together to resolve issues as they arose.
The Election Committee (drs. Sepideh Amin-Hanjani, Jacques Morcos, Soichi Oya, Miroslav Vukic, and André Grotenhuis) has carefully reviewed the whole voting process and concluded that it has been executed properly, correctly, safely and with no possibility of external interference or fraud.
During the EC meeting, four cities presented a bid to host the WFNS congress in 2025, Bali, Berlin, Madrid, and Prague. Twenty amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws were presented by dr. Jacques Morcos (Chair of the C&B Committee) and discussed with the EC members.
There have been 266 eligible voting officers and delegates. In the first round between March 15th and 16th, 191 votes were casted. In the second round, between March 16th and 17th, 162 votes were casted. This second ballot was necessary to determine the city that will host the WFNS congress in 2025 and it was a choice between the two cities that received the highest numbers of votes in the first round, Madrid, and Berlin.
As can be seen below, all 18 proposed Amendments passed, above the required threshold for each, and Madrid won the bid for the 2025 World Congress venue.
