With this issue of the Newsletter, we introduce a section “Global Neurosurgery”. This month’s section focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic; President Servadei’s report leads off the section.

Letter from WFNS President and Chair of Committee Activities

To all the Officers of the Administrative Council and to all Committee Chairs,

The worldwide pandemic of COVID- 19 has impacted all of us both professionally and personally. In these unprecedented times, our usual way of doing business has been altered, possibly forever. Our mission remains the same though, and that is to raise the level of neurosurgical knowledge globally, to provide the best care to our patients all across the world.

Neurosurgeons are a small community of about 50000 people all around the world. Until now we were a highly technological branch of Surgery with limited collaborations with Neurologists, Neuroradiologists, ENT surgeons, Maxillofacial surgeons, Oncologists and Rehabilitation Physicians.

We are very pleased to write these sentences about the collaboration between COVID-19 workers and neurosurgery discipline in our center in Tehran. In our neurosurgery ward, all the elective surgical procedures with a risk or evidence of COVID-19 involvements were postponed until abatement of the acute disease.
