The Road Back to Dnipro: “Third Time’s A Charm!”
Bloodied but Unbowed
The blast was enormous. Cold October air rushed through the shattered window into the operating room, which had momentarily gone dark. Dust and broken glass coated the floor, the walls, and the toppled equipment carts in the previously immaculate operating room. The attending neurosurgeon was 26-year-old Dr. Bohdan Sirko. He initially thought he was dead. Amidst the dust and haze, the persistent ringing in his right ear and the many medical alarms told him that he was still very much alive.

Building Bridges in Bolivia: UC Davis Neurosurgery Global Health Initiative
In 2023, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Department of Neurological Surgery launched a new global health initiative aimed at fostering sustainable neurosurgical collaboration. As part of this effort, neurosurgery residents and faculty traveled to Hospital Santa Bárbara in Sucre, Bolivia, to engage in hands-on clinical care, medical education, and research. This program represents a contemporary model for global neurosurgery—one grounded in continuity, equity, and mutual learning.

Society of British Neurological Surgeons Spring Meeting, Belfast, Northern Ireland
The SBNS Spring meeting, held at the International Conference Centre in Belfast and was a great success, and this was largely due to the high calibre of the guest speakers, the quality of the abstract presentations, the hospitality of our Hosts from the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and last but no means least, the beautiful location and the unusually good weather for March.

The WFNS Young Neurosurgeons Virtual Conference was held online on 5th and 6th April 2025 via Zoom. It was a successful international event with more than 1200 people registered and 522 participants attending live from all over the world.
