Cairo University - WFNS Reference Full Program Training
The Cairo University hospitals is a tertiary care center, contain more than 5,200 beds, with more tham 35 different specialties, including both inpatient and outpatient services. It is a center of excellence, representing one of the largest medical complex in Africa and the world.1 The hospital is equipped with state of the art medical, surgical and diagnostic equipment. The Neurosurgery Department at Cairo University Hospitals serves 11 hospitals (Al Manial Bahari, Al Manial Kibli, Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Emergency, Abu El-Reesh El-Mounira Children, Abu El-Reesh Japanese Children, Students, Kasr-Al-Aini New Teaching, Al Manial Specialized Hospital).2 Excluding Kasr-Al-Aini New Teaching & Al Manial Specialized Hospital. We also have close liaison with our neuro-radiology department, radiation oncology department and neuro-pathology departments. We receive all kind of Neurosurgical cases with an average of 1,500 neurotrauma related surgical cases and more than 3,000 elective cases every year. As example, Cairo University Hospitals have performed 5,101 Neurosurgical procedures in 2019. The Neurosurgery Department includes 130 active Neurosurgery faculties.
1. Application letter stating desire to train in Neurosurgery and confirmation that he/she will return to their country upon completion and willingness to commence training in January 2024
2. Copy of Medical qualification degree and license from the Medical Board
3. Curriculum Vitea (CV)
4. Recommendation letter from head of department (or president of national neurosurgical society) and confirmation that they will be employed as a Neurosurgeon upon return
5. Police clearance certificate
6. Letter of good standing from the Medical Board
7. Personal Photo( JPEG)
8. Copy of valid passport.
9. Any additional information requested by the selection Committee
10. A motivation letter by the candidate.
Kindly fill the “Application Form” after you have the required documents scanned and attested copies ready. The application form & scanned documents will be sent by email and scrutinized by Prof. Nasser El-Ghandour, Chairman of the Egypt/Africa Medical Training Program (elghandour@yahoo.com). Further approval is required by Chairman of the WFNS Foundation, who would recommend the candidate to join this International Fellowship Program. At the end of the training period of four years, Certificates will be issued by the Training Centre and the WFNS.
