Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to report that Basant Misra, Secretary of the WFNS, and I visited Istanbul on February 19 and 20, 2017, for a World Congress site inspection. We met with the President of the 2017 World Congress, Professor Ugur Ture, along with the President of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society, Professor Talet Kiris, the President-elect of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society, Professor Sukru Calgar, and the Secretary of Turkish Neurosurgical Society, Professor Selcuk Peker - all of whom are working hard to ensure that our World Congress will be a great success. Both Basant and I were most impressed with the conference venue that is being provided to us.  It is magnificent, with a complete roster of up-to-date amenities.  It is surrounded by hotels, which makes it very convenient. It really is one of the best sites that we have ever had to hold our World Congress.  We are most grateful to Professor Ihsan Solaroglu, Chair of the World Congress Scientific Committee, for the exceptional scientific program which he is organizing. I urge you to submit your presentation abstracts to him now, so that you can join the distinguished group of neurosurgeons from around the world who will be contributing to what will clearly be an outstanding program.

I also want to tell you that we had an opportunity to meet with both the Governor and the Mayor of Istanbul, and we are confident that they will ensure that the security at our site is excellent.  They will put a vigorous and thorough security system into place, so the participants at the World Congress need have no concerns in this regard.  Our conference center is located in the center of Istanbul, which is an extraordinary and beautiful city.  We believe that this World Congress will be one of the best ever, and we hope that attendance at this Congress will break all previous records.

Warm regards to you all,

Yong-Kwang Tu, MD, PhD
President
World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies
