The Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery (FIENS) provides hands-on training and education opportunities for neurosurgical residents and trainees in countries that lack sufficient neurosurgical coverage. One of the ways in which we do this is through the FIENS Bassett Family Fellowship. Thanks to the generous support of the Bassett family, FIENS offers international traveling fellowship. Applications are welcomed on a rolling basis. The review schedule is as follows:
FIENS Bassett Family Fellowship Spring Cycle: Deadline May 1 Fall Cycle: Deadline Nov. 1
This international traveling fellowship is for neurosurgeons who, at the time of their application, are either training in a residency program in a low-or-middle income country or who have completed residency training in a low-or-middle income country within the past five years.
The fellowship will cover the traveling and living expenses for a three-month period to be spent observing the activities of a neurosurgical service that has an established relationship with FIENS. Fellowships will be awarded on the basis of a competitive evaluation by a committee composed of FIENS members. The maximum fellowship stipend is $7,000. If you would like to learn more about the Bassett Fellowship please Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with review periods occurring May 1 and November 1 of each year. All applicants will receive a response from FIENS regarding the status of their application by the end of May and the end of November of each year.
