TO: All our Members Societies
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Fellow Neurosurgeons,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new WFNS website. In a time when the practice of neurosurgery is rapidly becoming globalized, it is our hope that the WFNS website will become for each and every one of you an essential link to your neurosurgical colleagues and to pertinent professional information.
Please permit me to take you on a tour of the new site. You will find the sections listed horizontally across the top of the page. Click on each section for a drop-down menu of section contents. Moving from left to right, the first section is labeled “WFNS”. This includes the Mission Statement and the Activities of our organization, a description of the World Federation, and contact information and photographs of the members of the Administrative Council. Next, you will find the President’s Welcome Page, as well as the Website Manager’s Welcome Page, which will announce major additions to the web site as they occur. Next is the listing of the WFNS Committees and Chairmen, where you will find links to each Committee. The activities of each Committee will be described on individual pages; see Young Neurosurgeons Forum for an example. An alphabetical listing of the Member Societies which make up the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies follows, as well as links to those societies’ own web pages. We hope you will find to be a very useful new feature. This section concludes with a listing of the Constitution and Bylaws of the WFNS.
The next section, “WFNS Meetings,” provides details for upcoming interim Meetings of the WFNS, as well as the next World Congress.
Next, follows “News,” which will include People, Honors, Book Reviews, and Obituaries and items of general interest.
The next section, “WFNS Foundation,” describes fellowships offered by the Foundation and is the place to download a Fellowship Application. Applications to request or donate Instruments may be also downloaded from this section.
The following section is labeled “Education”. This very important section includes a description of the 5 - 8 educational Courses offered by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies each year throughout the world. These highly popular and extremely useful courses are organized by the WFNS Education Committee Chairman, Atos Alves de Sousa.
The next section appears by popular demand! This is the “World Calendar” which we hope will become known as the one site where neurosurgeons can find a complete listing of all Major Neurosurgical Meetings Around the World. Please help us keep this highly useful feature vital by providing us with timely information about the dates and locations of your member society meetings.
The next section, “WFNS History,” will be maintained by WFNS Historian and past President, Dr. Armando Basso. This History Section will identify milestones in the evolution of the organization.
The final topic section is called "Reviews". The aim of Reviews in Neurosurgery is to publish informative and analytic critiques of the most recent publications directly related to our specialty.
The site concludes with Contact Information.
I look forward to your comments and suggestions and advancing our specialties through our website.
Warm regards,
|
